Freiburg 40 kmThe capital of the Black Forest The university town of Freiburg with its spacious pedestrian area is an invitation to relaxed shopping or just passing the time away. The historical old-town with its cathedral is laced with 7 kilometers of street drainage streams, which bring a particular flair to this beautiful town. The cathedral is very much worth a visit, as also are the old town-hall, the Augustine museum and the "Wentzingerhaus". Directly behind Freiburg lies the "Schauinsland" - a small mountain with a wonderfull view. As an alternative to the road there is a cable car to travel to the top. |

Black Forest railway Sightseeing in comfortThe Black Forest railway line was built from 1863 to 1873 between Offenburg and Lake Constance. On the stretch between Hornberg and St. Georgen the line passes through 36 tunnels. A round trip is possible, passing through the "Höllental" (hell valley) running from Freiburg to the Titisee. A "Baden-Württemberg" day ticket enables up to 5 persons to go sightseeing the whole day on one ticket. |

Black Forest high road Hills and forest - nature pureThis attractive stretch of road between Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt is one of Germany's most beautiful panaramic roads. It passes through the nature conservation area Ruhestein. Particularly interesting are the Mummelsee and the walking/ski area around the Kniebis. |
